This is revolutionary technology and I love what the SDR movement is doing to the hobby.
Small low Station are just as usable than high power stations.
Starting out, the idea of just having a SSB contact was amazing. but now, seeing how i am able to make a contact on 5 watts is mind blowing.
I decided the only way to learn more about repeaters is to own one myself! Now I get to share the love of YSF and WiresX with everyone else in my neighborhood.
I purchased an Icom IC-7100 during a holiday sale for $700, at the recommendation of KD2GIO. and This was a fantastic beginner RIG for me.
Unfortunately, I lost my IC-7100 when my second hand Astron power supply failed and resulted in an over voltage situation.
DXing DXing DXing, but really, who cares. I get more excited with local contacts more than anything else. Going far isn't nearly as exciting as potentially meeting someone new, not to far away.
